Money Games!

Check out my latest product up for sale!

I love teaching money!

Included are three of my favorite songs to sing and teach while learning to count with money.

My favorite one is listed below.
I teach my students to count by fives and tens, so my students find it easier to count dimes, nickels, and pennies.  Quarters are SO HARD for some of them.  So, we sing this song to help them learn to count by 25.

Sight Words Bundle

Check out my newest product!

I love using sight words in my classroom.

At the beginning of the year, I pull each student aside, and I test their sight words.
I love love love Fry's Words.
I test the first 100, in groups of twenty five.
If students need to work on the first twenty five, I give them flashcards to work on in class during independent reading time, as well as flashcards to send home.
Included are several ideas and activities for the whole class to do, small groups, or individuals.

Welcome to School Packet!

THIS WEEK ONLY SALE!!!!

Click on the picture to go to this item in my TPT and download the preview.

At the beginning of the year, I always find it beneficial to know where my students are - and I find these are a great way to assess during the first week or two of school.

I pass out the ABC chart and hundreds chart for them to complete and fill it out.  It is a great quick way for me to see which students have letter reversals, etc.

While teaching second grade, I would have my students fill out the sheet, "What I liked about first grade".  It was a quick way for me to see if they remembered punctuation from first grade and to quickly assess their writing ability.  I would refer to this for the first few months at school, and at parent teacher conferences.  Then, I would keep it and at the beginning of the year have them fill one out for second grade.  They loved comparing the two and seeing their growth throughout the year!  (not gonna lie, I did too!)

Be sure to download the preview to see if you could use it in your class!

About Me

At the beginning of the year, I like to introduce myself with a paper sack.

I love this FREEBIE from Mrs. Barksdale.
(I send it home with the students on back to school night)

It changes every year, but in the sack I choose five items.
Here are some things about myself:

I am married to the best person in the world and have been married for 3 years.

I had a little baby in May.  I just love him so.

I have three lovely sisters.

I live in Utah.
I love the mountains,
cross country skiing in the winter,

mountain biking,

and rock climbing.

I also love to read, write, and cook.

And I absolutely ADORE teaching second graders.
